
Debbie Sexton
1st Grade
Ms. Debbie Sexton is our wonderful First Grade Teacher. A cornerstone of our community, she is in her 9th year at Hood View Adventist School and brings a remarkable over 30 years of experience in education to the classroom.
Ms. Sexton is highly specialized in foundational reading skills and holds a Master of Arts in Reading Education. She is committed to using the latest, most effective methods, backed by her training in:
LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling)
UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) certification
For Ms. Sexton, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing literacy bloom. She describes her favorite part of teaching as having a "front row seat to watching kids turn into readers."
When she's not guiding young readers, Ms. Sexton enjoys:
Reading Style: She humorously notes that she "reads books with my ears," indicating a love for audiobooks.
Pets: She shares her home with her two beloved cats, named Goose and DuckDuck.
Hobbies: She loves attending live theater and playing table games, including one of her favorites, Five Crowns.
