Mrs. “Mac” has been teaching at Hoodview Jr. Academy since 1973.  She is dedicated to Christian education.  She is a high-energy person and uses that style for her classroom.  Her teaching approach is getting to know each individual student and target his/her style of learning.   She graduated from Walla Walla College.

 

Fran lives in Sandy with her husband, John.  Her hobbies include bicycling, cross-country skiing, hiking and reading.  She has two adult children.

Key Learning Goals:

 

Bible: 

Know that Bible lessons can be used to help in everyday life. Understand that God wants people to trust Him to provide all needs.

Science: 

Explain proper nutrition and how it relates to good health.  Explore magnetism, electricity and geology.  Explain proper use of natural resources.

Math: 

Count, add and subtract up to 3-digit numbers. Understand multiplication and division.  Develop time and money skills.

 

 

            

 

 

Language:  

Practice correct cursive writing forms.  Use the writing process to participate in real-life writing.

Social Studies:

 Discuss the rights and responsibilities of citizens and functions of local government.  Practice basic map-reading skills.  Explain the use and misuse of natural resources.

Technology:

Use computers to express ideas with drawing and word processing.  Begin learning basic keyboarding Fine Arts: Other specialists provide quality learning experiences in Art, Music (two days a week), and Physical Education (4 days a week).

             

 

 

               

Second graders are encouraged to be STAR STUDENTS:

Shine for Jesus through worship, praise & prayer times, and outreach/sharing projects.

Take responsibility in the areas of class jobs, completion of daily assignments & homework.

Actively get involved during class) and cooperative group times. 

Reflect Jesus’ love and practice His compassion.
